Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region II was invited as resource speaker in the 1st quarter Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training in Mines spearheaded by the Cagayan Valley Occupational Safety and Health Network (CVOSHnet) of the Department of Labor and Employment Region 02. The training was held on March 17-21, 2014 at the Hotel Ivory and Convention Center, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Engr. Cesar C. Caranto and Engr. Romeo O. Watchorna, Jr., the Electrical and Mechanical Engineers of this Office, presented the highlights of DAO No. 2000-98, the Philippine Mine Safety Rules and Regulations. THE House of Representatives has recently approved on third and final reading House Bill 3667, declaring the province of Nueva Vizcaya as a mining-free zone. Speaker and Lone District of Nueva Vizcaya Rep. Carlos Padilla, principal author of the bill, said the enactment of the bill into law would affect not only the present but also the future generation of people in Nueva Vizcaya.
