#MineResponsibility campaign launch

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- The Mines and Geosciences Bureau recently launched its Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign dubbed as #MineResponsibility held at Elements Eton Centris, Quezon City.

The #MineResponsibility is part of the intensive IEC drive of the Bureau to enlighten the public on responsible mining and to inform them about the benefits of mining in the society.

Further, the IEC also aims to address all misconceptions about the mining industry and to give a more factual and accurate image of mining in the country.

The campaign also launched the Kutsara Infomercial, Minsan Kitang Minahan online advertisement, and the Biyaya ng Lupa Documenntary.

The project is the brainchild of DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu, and DENR Undersecretary for Climate Change and Mining Concerns Atty. Analiza Rubuelta- Teh.

MGB Director Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano also said that the IEC campaign is the inclusive approach of the Bureau in ensuring the commitment of the mining industry in the protection of the people and the environment alongside its economic and social progress.

“It is important that the public is informed and involved in the enforcement of mining policies and environmental protection, and that is what this campaign is really about,” Moncano exhorted.

Meanwhile, Teh added that the campaign goes beyond just information and education. “ We’ve been working on improving the mining industry since the start of the Duterte Administration,” the undersecretary said.

“We take the issues on mining very seriously,” Teh emphasized.
