MGB 2 tackles responsible mining in Stakeholders’ Forum
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- Dubbed as “Know Mine, Know Life: A Forum on Responsible Mining,” the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II spearheaded a stakeholders’ forum last March 23- 24, 2022 at Zen Hotel, Santiago City.
The forum highlighted discussions on recent policies of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and MGB as well as best practices and developments in exploration and mining.
MGB 2 joins Women’s month celeb

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- To show support for women empowerment, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II joined the Philippine Commission on Women in the celebration of the 2022 Philippine National Women’s Month.
With the theme: “Women make change amidst climate crisis and COVID-19,” MGB ROII employees joined the Zumba and One Billion Rising Dance in every Monday of the month March. They also took part in the Purple Tuesdays of the PCW by wearing purple or its shades in all Tuesdays of the month.
Permittees plant trees in celebration of ‘I love Cagayan River Movement’

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- In celebration of the first anniversary of the I Love Cagayan Movement: Seedlings of Hope with the theme: “Care for Nature, Save our Future,” Commercial and Industrial Sand and Gravel Permittees planted trees of hope last February 1, 2022.
The tree planting activity was the initiative of MGB ROII Regional Director Mario A. Ancheta as one of the activities of the mining industry in support of the movement.
The movement was launched last February 1, 2021 as a call to action upon all stakeholders for the restoration of the Cagayan River and all the river systems in Cagayan. This is through massive seeding production and tree growing.
RD Ancheta expressed his appreciation to the permittees who responded to his request, “thank you for planting these trees of hope. It is in this action that we say we really care for nature.”
“In return, it is from these roots we will grow sustenance,” RD Ancheta said.
A total of 845 bamboo propagules and 100 butterfly seedlings were planted by nine ISAG permit holders in Cagayan.

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- In furtherance of the protection of the environment, Engr. Mario A. Ancheta, Regional Director of MGB ROII encouraged the Commercial/Industrial Sand and Gravel Permit Holders to plant trees on February 1, 2022.
This is in celebration of the first-year anniversary of the “I love Cagayan River Movement: Seedlings of Hope.”
The movement is a call to action of the Provincial Government of Cagayan for the restoration of the Cagayan River and all river systems in the province of Cagayan through massive seeding production and tree growing.
“Let us save the environment that gives us livelihood. Let us save our environment from degradation,” RD Ancheta said during his meeting with the Permit Holders.
“Years from now, we will reap the environmental gains that tree growing can provide,” RD Ancheta emphasized.
MGB 2 joins the Q1 national earthquake drill

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II joined the first National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill ( NSED) for this year held today, March 10.
Engr. Florentino Bangisan, Jr. said, “We will never know when earthquake will occur. But, we can minimize it its impact thru our knowledge in earthquake safety.”
The NSED was spearheaded by the Office of the Civil Defense to promote earthquake preparedness and disaster resilience.
