Two FCF lady Mason trainees bag top 20 Holcim Galing Mason Award

“Vocation and expertise knows no gender.” This was proven by Rosana Bonglay and Elvira Ha-pulon, both locals of Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya after being proclaimed as two of the Top 20 qualifiers for the Holcim Ga-ling Mason awarding held at the Manila Hotel last Sept. 25, 2015.
Out of 189 registrants in the entire Philippines, the two, who also represented the whole Region 2, were among the Top 20 qualifiers competed in the said event.
The search for Holcim Galing Mason is a national search for outstanding masons who show tremendous pride in their profession as well as being responsible members of their community.
Bonglay and Hapulon were assisted by FCF Minerals and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in terms of technical knowhow in the actual construction and how to handle pressure during the competition for 9 days prior to their travel to Leyte for the competition.
The two ladies were among the 15 trainees sponsored by FCF Minerals under the Human Resource Development & Institution Building program of the Community and Social Development (CSD) Department, and were given National Certificate II (NC-II) by TESDA.
Moreover, aside from being trainees, they were also hired as Masons by FCF Minerals Corporation and were part of the manpower who constructed the Senior Block Accommodation, which become their passport to qualify in the competition.
Giveaways like Personal Protective Equipments (PPE), tools, and uniforms were given and both of them also received Php 5, 000.00 cash prize and additional Php 5, 000.00 for being lady masons during the awards night.
