MGB ROII supports the national vaccination drive

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- With the aim to beef up the COVID-19 vaccination nationwide, Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II supported the call of the Department of Health to participate in the “Bayanihan Bakunahan: Ligtas. Lakas. Buong Pins.” campaign held last November 29, 20, and December 1, 2021/

Declared as National COVID-19 Vaccination Days, the massive vaccination drive aims to increase vaccine coverage and mobilize stakeholders from every sector to support the national government’s goal of giving Filipinos a safe and healthy Christmas.

OGPI recognized as top performing mine in metallic category

In the recent PH EITI Recognition Ceremony, the Didipio Mine has just been recognized as the top performing entity in the metallic category.

Placing first, the mine was recognized for its commitment to and diligence in the implementation of EITI in the Philippines through data reporting.

During the awarding, OGPI President, Atty. Joan Adaci-Cattiling thanked the EITI for the recognition.

“From all of us at the Didipio Mine and OceanaGold Philippines, we thank the Philippine EITI for this recognition. Indeed, this truly inspires us to continue to do our share, aligned with our commitment to transparency and the implementation of the EITI in the Philippines through data reporting. Agyaman kami."

PMSEA conducts virtual Mining Symposium

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- In celebration of the 67 years of Responsible Mining, the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers hand in hand with the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association ( PMSEA) conducted a virtual Minerals Industry Symposium held last Nov. 24-26, 2021.

The Minerals Industry Symposium which was spearheaded in the second day was  a whole-day event virtually bringing together experts and resource persons to stimulate discussion of recent government policies/issuances and leading mining engineering practices/initiatives in the promotion of occupational safety and health, sound environmental management, and social responsibility in the minerals industry, amidst the concern of the global health crisis.

This year’s theme, “Pusong Minero – the Quiet Heroes of the Pandemic,” aims to highlight the vital contribution of the mineral extractive industries in the local and national recovery of the Philippines in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

MGB ROII sustains ISO recertification

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II has recently passed its International Organization for Standardization (ISO) recertification by Intertek Certification Limited, United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS)

The new ISO 45001 standard for occupational health & safety management will supersede OHSAS 18001, the previous standard for occupational health & safety, and will minimize the risk of damage to health and accidents in the workplace.

ISO 9001:2015 addresses the quality management system of the office. This sets criteria on the agency’s service delivery vis-a vis its clients’ satisfaction

ISO 14001:2015 facilitates for environmental management system of an organization. This seeks for the proper management of the environmental responsibilities of the bureau like paper, water, and fuel consumption as well as the waste disposal system of MGB.

“With this, we must continue to efficiently and effectively deliver our services to the people,” RD Mario A. Ancheta encouraged his staff.
